Julika Mayer is a Stuttgart-based artist working for theater and as a performer. She is a graduate of the ESNAM Ecole Superieure National des Arts de la Marionnette in France in 1999.
She was co-founder of LaOu- Marionnette Contemporaine together with Renaud Herbin, working on contemporary puppetry and object theatre from 2000 to 2011.
She is part of the COI  - Corps Objet Image  - Plateforme, an experimental space for visual theatre forms.
Since 2011 she is Professor for Figurentheater at the HMDK University for Music and Performing arts Stuttgart, Germany. She teaches and works on cooperations abroad with differents artschools such as DAMU , Departement for Alternative Theatre / Prag, School for Visual Theatre Jerusalem, HEAR Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin / Strasbourg , ZHDK Zürich and the theatre departement of the University of Teheran.
Her artistic process consists on a research of visual language and new performance practices. She is interested in physical situations with objects and puppets and how documentary elements can be translated into performance.
